BRITISH HAIR AWARDS 2015 - Finalist Collection: Angelo Vallillo @ Zullo & Holland

This year I worked on a hair collection with Angelo Vallillo & his team at Zullo & Holland in Nottingham. For the last two years running, Angelo has won Eastern Hairdresser of the Year, which is an amazing achievement for himself and for everyone involved in the creation of the collections - including photographer Richard Miles and the team at Zullo & Holland - (Amy Taylor, Simon Tuckwell, Shireen Zanjani, Romano Zullo, Sue Comery, Charlotte Willey, Derek Rae, Alex Leonard, Grace Bowering)

Since then, both of the 2013 & 2014 collections have been published throughout print magazines, online magazines, blogs and social media websites worldwide - we made the cover of Hairdressers Journal, Hair Now, Les Nouvelles Esthetiques and Institute Magazine. We also got editorial spreads and image features in Professional Hairdresser Magazine, Fellowship Magazine, Hair Now, Estetica, Hair's How, Loop, Salon Business, Top Hair, Tribute Magazine & more.

We gained a lot of attention with our first collection in 2013 because it was so striking and different. As a creative makeup artist, I love pushing the boundaries to create something refreshing and new. In this collection, instead of clothing or jewellery, I created a black feathered body paint look which worked really well with the total look and image - adding bold & dramatic detail but keeping the focus on the hair.

In the 2014 collection, we wanted consistency in terms of strength of image & style but we also wanted to progress and bring this collection forward. This time, with the makeup, I decided to go for a glossy wet look finish, which you will find across a lot of my creative work. I loved how this contrasted against the dry, matte hair textures and dark background.

In the 2015 collection, again we wanted our signature artistic style to shine strongly through the images. For the makeup I decided to play with graphic lines and 'painted' textures.
