BRITISH HAIR AWARDS 2015 - Finalist Collection: Angelo Vallillo @ Zullo & Holland

This year I worked on a hair collection with Angelo Vallillo & his team at Zullo & Holland in Nottingham. For the last two years running, Angelo has won Eastern Hairdresser of the Year, which is an amazing achievement for himself and for everyone involved in the creation of the collections - including photographer Richard Miles and the team at Zullo & Holland - (Amy Taylor, Simon Tuckwell, Shireen Zanjani, Romano Zullo, Sue Comery, Charlotte Willey, Derek Rae, Alex Leonard, Grace Bowering)

Since then, both of the 2013 & 2014 collections have been published throughout print magazines, online magazines, blogs and social media websites worldwide - we made the cover of Hairdressers Journal, Hair Now, Les Nouvelles Esthetiques and Institute Magazine. We also got editorial spreads and image features in Professional Hairdresser Magazine, Fellowship Magazine, Hair Now, Estetica, Hair's How, Loop, Salon Business, Top Hair, Tribute Magazine & more.

We gained a lot of attention with our first collection in 2013 because it was so striking and different. As a creative makeup artist, I love pushing the boundaries to create something refreshing and new. In this collection, instead of clothing or jewellery, I created a black feathered body paint look which worked really well with the total look and image - adding bold & dramatic detail but keeping the focus on the hair.

In the 2014 collection, we wanted consistency in terms of strength of image & style but we also wanted to progress and bring this collection forward. This time, with the makeup, I decided to go for a glossy wet look finish, which you will find across a lot of my creative work. I loved how this contrasted against the dry, matte hair textures and dark background.

In the 2015 collection, again we wanted our signature artistic style to shine strongly through the images. For the makeup I decided to play with graphic lines and 'painted' textures. BRITISH HAIR AWARDS 2015 Finalist Collection: Daniel Granger Hairdressing

This year I worked with Daniel Granger and his team (Chloe Hunter, Lucy King, Adam Haines, Emma Holmes, Will Lamb) in Northampton on their British Hair Awards Collection. We had a great shoot over two days with photographer Dan Thomas & assistant Jordan Leigh Russell. We also had videographer (and photographer) Mark Kidsley there capturing all of the looks in an exclusive behind the scenes video.

For the makeup look, we decided to go with a strong graphic eyeliner contrasted with nude skin and nude lips. I also added a "freckled' look to the models skin, which I think worked really well with the total look.  

The collection made it into the final. I think this collection is really strong and I'm so glad to have been part of it. I'm really looking forward to seeing who wins! Here are a few screen shots from Mark's video to show some of the makeup close ups. Full photographic collection coming soon...

BRITISH HAIR AWARDS 2015 finalist Caroline Sanderson & Claire McIntyre @ Ego Hair Design Inverness

This year I had the pleasure of working with Caroline Sanderson & Claire McIntyre and their team: Carla Zebrowskim Craig Markey and Diana Morrison from Ego Hair Design in Inverness, Scotland on their British Hair Awards Collection with photographer Richard Miles.

Caroline also has her own cosmetics line, Tartan Minerals which I used to create all of the makeup looks in the collection. Tartan Minerals is a bespoke natural organic, vegan mineral makeup brand with no animal testing - something I strongly support! I was very impressed with the quality and strength of pigments of the makeup (which is important for a professional makeup artist) and would definitely recommend them if you are looking to update your kit!

The theme of the shoot was grungy, industrial, punk which is everything I love. I really enjoyed working on this collection, we had a great team with a strong vision. The images were shot in colour and converted to black & white for the competition entry. I've added the colour images below to show off the makeup looks and hair colouring.

The collection has made it into the British Hairdressing Awards final, winners will be announced in November... best of luck!

Makeup Workshops Birmingham

Today I was teaching a fashion makeup workshop in Birmingham. In this class, we focused on techniques including: eyebrow blocking, ombre lips and block colour eyeshadow. The students were lovely and very enthusiastic! I look forward to seeing them again next week for my workshop on graphic eyeliner!

I recently worked on an amazing photoshoot with costume designer Jack Irving and photographer Amberly Valentine. We produced a series of images of Jack's latest designs which were worn by Lady Gaga. We also got the images featured in Wonderland Magazine alongside an interview with Jack.

Fashion Makeup Workshop - Birmingham

I was invited as a guest lecturer to The Central School of Makeup in Birmingham, to demonstrate several workshops including, fashion makeup, creative makeup and body painting. Here are a few photos of the look I demonstrated. Student produced some great works and seemed really keen and interested in starting their own careers as makeup artists.

Glitter Body Paint

Here are some behind the scenes images from an amazing body paint photoshoot I worked on with photographer Amberly Valentine, Hair Artist Masanori Yahiro, Fashion Stylist Minna Attala and Model Bradley @ AMCK. The theme was futuristic and the moodboard included lots of glitter, which I love so I used all of my super excited energy to create this! I love it. Definitely one of my favourite photoshoots so far. The images got published in Hedonist Magazine and even made the cover :)

Onoara Campaign

Here are a couple of shots from the ONOARA jewellery campaign I worked on with photographer Calvin Condry Mlilo, shot in London. The designer wanted to go for a bold fashion look with the makeup so I decided on this soft lilac eyeshadow with winged liner, and a bright red lipstick! See full collection on the website.

Clay Hair Salon - Beauty Photoshoot

I recently worked on a photoshoot day with Clay Hair Salon at one of Angelo Vallilo's training courses. We produced some commercial style hair & beauty imagery for the salon, working with natural tones and textures in the hair and a fresh natural look with the makeup. Photography by Richard Miles.

Qatar UK 2013

This year I worked on the Qatar UK Fashion Exchange Show at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London with The Court on Camera Creatives Team. It was fantastic to be involved in this event, especially in the museum! Here are a couple of looks from the catwalk, as well as a close-up shot of one of the models I worked on backstage.
